The 5 remaining yachts in the Volvo Ocean Race finally completed leg 2 Cape Town to Abu Dhabi after unprecedented precautions against pirates. The Volvo Ocean Racefleet had been loaded on to an un-named cargo vessel at a secret location to transport the yachts to close to the finish line for a Dash into the Marina at Abu Dhabi.
Team Telefónica secured overall victory in Leg 2 with a strong second place but there was joy too for Groupama sailing team on Wednesday as they notched their first win of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, snatching top spot ahead of their rivals in the dying moments of the yachting sprint into Abu Dhabi.

The yachts will be in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, marina until the 14th of January. After a race out of the marina the whole process of loading and the unloading the yachts on to a cargo vessel will then be repeated for the leg 3 race to China.
Team Sanya, the sixth yacht, were forced to suspend racing with rig damage, but seventeen days later Team Sanya have taken to the water in Madagascar in preparation to rejoin the Volvo Ocean Race.
