The Motorboat Museum is racing against the clock to try to find a new home after Basildon Council decided to change the use of the building into a more enviromentally friendly visitor attraction. The Museum situated at the Wat Tyler Country Park in Essex has until May to find another Local Council that would be prepared to house the Motor boat museum.
The museum at the moment attracts 17,000 visitors per year, but Basildon Council who fund the project at a cost of £100.000 per year has said that it is no longer cost effective and are under severe spending pressure.
The Motorboat musem has approched other councils including Southhampton and Poole which could be interested but all have funding issues though admitting the potential of having the museum. Until a new home can be found the museum has closed its doors to visitors from the 4th December 2009.
