Puerto del Carmen is an attractive harbour with a busy marina in Lanzarote’s largest tourist resort. The marina is home to excursion boats, local craft and fishing boats and there is little space for visiting yachts, but in settled weather it is possible to anchor off making this a good daysail destination from other marinas. The original and tiny harbour lies about half a kilometre east of the main harbour.
The whole town is geared towards the tourism industry and as you would suspect abounds with all types of bars and restaurants, many being located close to the harbour area.
Communications are excellent both between the islands and the rest of Europe. The Islands main airport is just 15 minutes away by car and all the islands are connected by ferries from the major ports. The road infrastructure is good and well maintained as is the public transport system which is clean, safe and efficient. Two regular ferries also operate to nearby Fuerteventura from Playa Blanca by Fred Olsen and Armas, which is just a 30 minute crossing and inexpensive.
Yacht Charter can be arranged on the island or other islands in the Canaries with an all year round sailing season.
