A new solution has been found for the increasing demand for marina berths, Chemainus Quay and Marina off the east coast of Vancouver Island.
This will soon become home to 48 new luxury floating residences, all with accompanying moorings able to accommodate yachts of up to 120 feet. Construction is underway and the marina which will cater to both permanent and visiting boat owners with its five - 10 foot wide by 375 foot long, golf cart-friendly, moorage stringers. By connecting four floating vessels, each consisting of twelve residences, to a fifth vessel housing a restaurant/lounge, spa and fitness facility, the Chemainus.
Quay Marina will form a permanent 400 foot long floating breakwater. The entire complex will be built in phases—one vessel at a time—to ensure each 12-unit section is completed in a timely manner. The commercial vessel will be the last addition to the complex.
Few protected cruising waters in the world can match the pristine coastlines of the San Juan and Gulf Islands of the Pacific Northwest for its temperate climate and stunning scenery. While the cosmopolitan cities of Victoria, Vancouver and Seattle are closeby, residents can still enjoy the freedom of knowing that the town of Chemainus is just a short walk away. Chemainus or the “city of murals” is famous for its walking mural tour, dinner theatre, boutiques, shops and quiet lunch spots in one of the many cafés or bistros.

World Marine Guide now has over 60 marinas listed and we are constantly looking to add more. We are the most comprehensive site for marina information in the Canary Islands and are now wanting to expand this service to the rest of the world. We realise that this is a huge undertaking and so are concentrating on Europe and the Caribbean now, but we will not refuse any marina from anywhere.
Each marina listed is described in detail giving information on the approach and the entry. A list of services, contact details etc. is also supplied along with any other information we receive. A google map and satellite photo shows the port and surrounding area along with photos of the harbour. Three day weather information, is on each marina page as well as links to other useful artcles for yachts using the marina.
You can update your information at anytime and provide news items which we can publish as blogs. You can add your marina by using the "Add your Marina" button on the home page or by emailing the information to the address below. If you would like to view a marina already on our site to see what yours could look like click this link

After a 4,000 tonne cargo vessel went missing authorities are asking are pirates operating in Northern Europe?
The "Artic Sea" was last heard from by British Coastguards as she prepared to enter the Dover Straits on the 28th July when four days earlier, the Maltese-registered ship had apparently been boarded in the Baltic Sea. The vessel is carrying about £1m worth of timber from Finland to Algeria, and it is feared that she with her 15 Russian crew was still under the control of pirates when contact was made with the British Coastguards.
Mark Clark, of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said, "In our experience this is unprecedented. This is piracy in a first world area - it's virtually unknown". The vessel was last heard from when she was reported by a ship tracking system off Breast.
